Wow! I immediately fell in love with the mysteries of this scent (After Shave Tonic). So did my wife. And everyone else that caught a whiff thought so too. I purchased a second bottle so I would have a reserve supply. Kudos to you. It is fantastic. - EE. P.

Amazing Conditioning Beard Oil
Verified Purchase

I have quite a thick beard. Kind of like otter fur. So I need a deep conditioning oil that will do it’s job and smell great. I got exactly what I’m looking for in this oil! Not too oily, not too watery. Just right. It has a nice manly smell, too. Can’t wait to take a picture of the bottle in front of Hemingway’s houses in both Key West and Havana this January. Thanks again! - Jeffrey W.

Are you making one of these cologne mistakes?

Posted by Sarah Irwin on

Try and avoid these common cologne mistakes.

Mistake #1: Spraying the fragrance on your clothing.
Spraying cologne directly on your clothes prevents it from mixing with your natural oils, which is what gives it its unique quality. Spraying on your clothes can also prevent the scent from going through its scent stages, rendering the scent flat and monochrome. Finally, spraying a fragrance directly on clothing can be harmful to some fabrics.

Mistake #2: Spraying a mist cloud and walking through it.

While it may seem like this method prevents over-application, Walking into the mist renders the cologne almost useless. The majority of your cologne needs to be placed on your body, and applying cologne this way means most of it ends up on the floor.

Mistake #3: Rubbing the fragrance onto the skin.

Rubbing the cologne into your skin makes the scent fade faster as it breaks the molecular bond in the fragrance. If you’re not going to spray the fragrance, then simply dab, but don’t rub.

Mistake #4: Leaving your cologne on the bathroom counter.

Your cologne will reduce quality and efficacy if left in sunlight or warmer locations, so you want to keep your cologne in a cool, dry area. Some people choose to keep their colognes in their closets or a bookcase in their bedroom. Don’t let the storage of your colognes in a cool shaded area limit you, make a special place to display and store your favorite colognes.

Mistake #5: Only wearing your cologne on special occasions.

Wearing cologne should be a part of your everyday grooming routine. How you smell is considered to be one of the most important ways people remember you, and your cologne can leave an impression. Work in an office? Wear a cologne that is consistently clean-smelling and fresh. Have a big meeting? Grab that cologne that makes you feel smooth and successful. Have a hot date? Spritz yourself with a cologne that makes you feel masculine and sexy.

Mistake #6: Buying your scent from the grocery store.

Your cologne scent should be curated just for you, try a variety of scents and work out what works for you. You are an uncommon man, so select an uncommon fragrance. Everyone smells like 'Africa' so why would you?
